Kids Triathlon

The races will start right after the previous race finishes. All athletes will need to be at the event 45 minutes before there start time.

BIKE CHECK IN: Bike check in will be from 6:00am on Saturday at the transition. All athletes are to be there at least 45 minutes before there race starts.

GEAR BAG DROP OFF: The 1st transition area, T1 and T2 will be at the hotel where your bikes will be and when you get out of the water.

MANDATORY MEETING: There will be a pre-race meeting the race morning before your race starts. Everyone must attend..

PACKET PICKUP: Packet pickup will be open from 6:00am to 45 minutes before there race the day of the race.

BIKE TRANSITION: The bike transition will open at 6:00am on Saturday morning. If you want anything for the transitions then you need to put it at your bike area before the race starts.

FIRST RACE: Start time: 8:00am – Junior - 13-15

SECOND RACE: Start time: 8:45am – Junior - 11-12

THIRD RACE: Start time: 9:30am – Youth - 9-10

FORTH RACE: Start time: 9:45am – Kids - 7-8

(Please listen carefully to any additional instruction or changes during the pre-race meeting)

PARKING: Event parking for Saturday is located at North entrance to Makena State Park, also known as Big Beach. Parking is not allowed in the hotel parking lot.
There is parking around the event area so make sure your parked legally.

SWIM CAPS: Swim caps are mandatory. You must bring your own cap.

BODY MARKING / TIMING CHIP: Present your race number to get body marked and to pick up your timing chip on race morning at the transition area. Timing chips must be worn during entire race in order to get a transition/finish time.

AID STATIONS: No aid stations on the course.

FINISH LINE: Post-race refreshments will be available at the finish line.

TIMING: Timing will be provided by Pacific Sport Events & Timing. Results will be posted that day at . There will be live results at the day of the event.

This is a USAT sanctioned race. We ask for your cooperation in following the swim-bike-run race regulations. The most common violation is drafting on the bike. NO DRAFTING ON THE BIKE.....

Courses: The swim course will vary depending on the age divisions. See above for distances. This very safe will be a single loop course that will take athletes in a triangular course. The swim course will be monitored by life guards, jet skis and SUP. The course enters and exits from the beach fronting the Makena Golf Resort. No cut off time.
You can wear a suit but there are rules. Click here to see the USAT rules on wearing suits.

• No floatation devices, fins, paddles, snorkels, etc…

The bike course is one loop, the distance is listed on the top of this web page. As you leave the transition area. The map will be available soon.

Volunteers will be outside the transition area to advise you where to dismount. Re-rack your bike and exit the transition for the run portion of the event.

• No cut-off time.
• Participants MUST WEAR A HELMET which must be buckled before leaving the transition area.
• It is recommended to wear a bike jersey, gloves, bike shorts, and eye protection (clear lens preferably, if it is a cloudy day.)
• Riding your bike in the transition area is prohibited.
• When passing other bikers please pass on the left and yell “on your left”. Please pass safely.
• If you need to stop on the bike course or need to walk your bike in some areas, please stay on the far right side of the road.
• All competitors are required to follow the prescribed course and to stay within all directed areas. Cutting the course is an obvious violation and going outside the course is a safety issue.
• Carry a spare tube, pump or CO2 cartridges, tire levers and “drink” (i.e. water, sports drink, etc…)

Run Course -the distance is listed on the top of this web page - The run course exits the bike transition area at the T-1 transition. The map will be available soon and will be posted here.

• All runners are required to wear race numbers at all times during the run.
• Numbers must face the front and be clearly visible at all times, or you may receive a time penalty.
• Barefoot running is not allowed; proper shoes must be worn.

Race Amenities - all participants will receive an event T-shirt at packet pickup.

All participants will get a finisher medal as they come thru the finish line. There will be no age awards. Everyone wins...

• Do not leave any equipment or personal gear on the race course.
• Pickup all personal items at the 1st and 2nd transition area before your leave.
•The event will not be responsible for items left behind.
• Foul, harsh, argumentative or abusive language or other un-sportsman like conduct directed at race officials, USA triathlon officials, volunteers, spectators, or fellow athletes is forbidden and maybe cause for disqualification.
